The Private Education Act was established in October 2009 and incorporates the Council for Private Education (CPE). It aims to provide functions, duties and powers to CPE, and to provide for the regulation and accreditation of private education institutions (PEIs). The Act is to ensure the provision of quality education thereat and for matters connected therewith, and to make a consequential amendment to the Education Act (Chapter 87 of the 1985 Revised Edition).
